What Our Patients Say

I suffered from calf problems for 12years. Rob fixed them in two visits. That was a year ago and the problem has not returned. I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to be able to run freely, without pain and without the worry of the pain returning. Now with a thousand miles of gratitude, I am so glad I went to them.
Jerry S. TimsburyHaving suffered with back problems for many years, two years ago I had an MRI scan to find out the actual cause. This showed osteoarthritis of the lower spine, and I was told by my G.P. that the only treatment really was painkillers. At the time I was finding walking very uncomfortable and having tried chiropractic in the past with some success, made an appointment with Robin Marshall. After four or five treatments I was walking normally with little or no pain and still, after two years feeling the benefit. I feel so grateful to Robin for improving the quality of my life so much.
Pat GudgeAfter over two weeks of intense stabbing and quite frightening head pains and being told to take painkillers by my GP I visited Robin – the first time I’ve ever been to a chiropractor. I have now been 3 times, my headaches have stopped and I feel much more aware of my posture and movement. Rob is not only brilliant at getting to the root of the problem and fixing it, but also he really takes the time to explain everything. There’s nothing he doesn’t know about your bones and muscles! Which means you leave an appointment with him feeling not only more knowledgeable about your health but also with your mind put at rest. The whole place is friendly and relaxed and I couldn’t recommend it enough, particularly Robin. Thanks so much!
Chantelle H BathThis is a recommendation from Darren Michael Webber patient of Rob Marshall.
My back pain was a continual problem, and has been for years and years. At long last I have found real relief. I am a roofer and this involves extremely heavy work. Years past I sustained injury from overdoing the weights I was carrying, quite unbearable pain resulted. Previously I had tried everything, extremely powerful pain killers, various consultancies with Doctors and Consultants. They spoke of operations and other treatments. I tried everything. Nothing has worked until I went to Rob Marshall.
I cannot speak highly enough of the relief I have found after being treated by Rob Marshall.
Before I had almost continual pain. This resulted in me being absent from work for nearly a year, and then since periodic absences as the pain become unbearable.
I look forward now to a future where I can continue working at my job, and to continuing my treatment and hopefully getting cured.Darren Michael Webber BristolDear Robin,
My Wife and I, and our two sons, are extremely grateful for you being able to detect a blood clot in the calf of my right leg. You advised me to see my Doctor. My Doctor was unable to detect a blood clot, in fact he said I did not have a blood clot. He gave me some cream to rub into the calf to ease the pain.
On my second visit to my Doctor with an explanatory note about the blood clot (from yourself), he arranged a visit to the RUH for an ultrasound scan that proved to be positive, so I am now on WARFARIN for six weeks.
Without your Chiropractic experience, I would have been in serious trouble.Rex A Kay SaltfordHaving been diagnosed at the age of three with congenital dislocation of the right hip I have undergone several hip rebuilds and at the age of 30 a full hip replacement. Following the birth of my Son in 2007 I was finding my mobility extremely difficult. My partner, who was seeing Rob Marshall for an old sports injury at the time, suggested I saw Rob. I was extremely sceptical as I have always had limited mobility throughout my life and assumed if my Consultant was unable to assist no one could.
Following my initial consultation with Rob I felt at ease and began to believe there was light at the end of the tunnel, following several intense sessions at the outset I am pleased to say I now only have to see Rob once every three months to ensure I don’t find myself back where I started.
My mobility is better then it ever has been and I no longer have to wear a heal wedge in my shoe to minimise the limp I was left with following my hip replacement.
I started to suffer dizzy spells that made the room spin badly when changing positions for which my GP prescribed tablets to help with the sickness feeling this created. During one of my consultations for my low back/hip with Rob I experienced another spell of dizziness; Rob diagnosed the dizziness as BPPV and carried out the Epley’s Manoeuvre and within 24hrs I was no longer suffering from dizzy spells, I stopped taking the medication prescribed.
I can’t thank Rob enough for everything he has done for me. In addition to my regular three monthly appointments I have called upon him when my dizzy spells return or if I sustain any other injuries. To date the treatment I have received from Rob has always been successful.
He is extremely professional and has the ability to make you relaxed and at ease from the moment you are in his presence.Sarah Workman Whitchurh, BristolAt 16 months old my daughter could not roll, let alone sit up. She most certainly could not crawl let alone walk like others of her age or even those 4 months younger. Despite numerous visits/treatments with hospital physio’s she remained immobile and extremely stiff.
At the end of her first treatment with Rob, my little girl was able to roll over onto her tummy. The second visit allowed her to bring herself into the sitting position from lying. Within three weeks she was rolling freely, pulling herself into the sitting position from lying, crawling a few paces and almost standing alone. Her whole body had loosened up and she was so much more flexible. A month from Rob starting his work on her, she was able to crawl (just 6 treatments). Another treatment and she was walking around the furniture and climbing the stairs.
People may argue that all children begin to move and walk at some time but my daughter was so stiff her joints were unable to move. The results following treatment were always immediate. Rob would put her on the floor where she would perform her new trick.
The only option the hospital had left for us to see why my daughter could not move was to give her a general anaesthetic and give her a brain scan. For someone so little who also suffers severe heart problems this would have been a risky procedure.
I have no doubt in my mind that had it not been for the wonderful treatment of Rob then my little girl could still be immobile.
Where all others had failed, Rob’s patience and determination to cure my little girl finally paid off when a couple of months after our first visit she began to walk.
In my mind I consider Rob to be a miracle worker and have recommended many people to him and will continue to do so in the future.Julie ProbertI took that leap of faith into chiropractic care when our doctor could only prescribe painkillers for my back pain. During the course of treatment I discovered rob could also help with my migraines and carpel tunnel problems. I am now walking pain free, my migraines gone from three a week to occasional and carpel tunnel kept in check with maintenance treatment three times a year. I am a quilter and sew a lot so its an ongoing problem with me. I cannot thank Rob enough for all his help. Rob is extremely professional, caring and helpful and I would not hesitate to recommend chiropractic care with rob.
Gail M. BristolI so wish I’d come across Active Health when I first moved to Bath a year ago. Whereas I’ve only received boxes of painkillers from the GP, Robin has alleviated the pain and restored mobility to my creaky joints with a mixture of common sense, great skill, enthusiastic expertise and humour. So sorry I’m now leaving town, but will be returning for more appointments as soon as I can!
Sally GeeveI needed a chiropractor and following the poor results of another in Bath and I found Robin (of active health) to be fantastic! Very nice, very knowledgable and up-to-date, but most important for me was that he sorted my back out!
Max Slinger BathDear Mr Marshall.
I am writing to thank you most sincerely for the excellent Chiropractic treatment that I have been receiving recently for my lower back problem.
Because I lead a very active ‘physical exercise’ life it is most important that I keep myself in good physical shape so that I can enjoy the exercise. However, my lower back problem at times was stopping me doing just that.
Thank you for the care and attention to detail to see that I am comfortable at all times with your treatment and the confidence that it gives me.
This confidence means that I can look forward to my 15 minutes or so of Chiropractic treatment from you knowing full well that my eased lower back problem will allow me to enjoy my ‘physical exercise” life to the full.
It is comforting to know that older age is no barrier to enjoying physical exercise in an attempt to not only ward off such disabilities as Asthma and Arthritis but to enjoy what’s left of ones body after a lifetime of work.
Thank you once again Mr Marshall.Mr. R J TDear Rob,
I don’t think I thanked you when I left this morning, so I do so now. I am very grateful to you for all your care and efforts on my behalf over the past few weeks.
You will be pleased to know that my homeward journey was much more comfortable than my journey over this morning, thanks to your treatment of my knee.Muriel Reynolds BristolDear Robin,
May I take the opportunity to thank you for the way you have aproached my case, especially for refusing more treatment until your disagnosis is confirmed by scans.
It is comforting to know that there is a real interest, shown through your courteous reception and sense of humour which put me at ease.Mrs. Jean Barnett Chilcompton, Radstock -
I could not recommend Sacha enough…
Having had several physio sessions in London before coming to Bath, Sacha has been by far the best! Her passion for what she does and how thoroughly she works is incredible. It has been both reassuring and rewarding, working with Sacha. Thankyou for your time.Jordan Metcalf, ActorMy husband booked me an appointment with Sacha after a sudden onset of pelvic pain in my second trimester of my first pregnancy. I was sceptical, as I had heard of many poor encounters of pregnant friends with physiotherapy. However, the treatment was very gentle, and I was pain-free after the first session. I am grateful I went along to see Sacha, I thought all pregnant women suffered back and pelvic pain; now I know they don’t have to!
Elizabeth S WIltshireI have had lower back pain for around eight years and have seen various physios, osteos, chiros and other people that have claimed to be able to fix the problem. I have recently finished an eight session treatment with Sacha and am extremely pleased to say that I have finally found someone who has delivered.
I am a long haul pilot with British Airways and as such spend very long periods of time sat stationary. This has undoubtedly contributed to the problem, however I am also a keen runner and enjoy numerous other sports. I had almost given up hope of being able to run and enjoy activities to the sort of level that I had previously. With Sacha’s treatment I am now up and running again and my back pain, that I have suffered from for so many years, has all but gone.
I can’t recommend Sacha enough. She is a consummate professional and shows incredible knowledge. She goes to great lengths to try to explain what the problems are and what it is she is doing to fix them. She not only treats the problem, but gives lots of advice on exercises to help prevent re-occurrence.Nathan Ormshaw BathI had a long history of knee pain, but when it was stopping me from playing tennis I was recommended to see Sacha for some physiotherapy. The treatment was very effective immediately, and with very little maintenance treatment I continued to play tennis pain-free. When the pain returned, Sacha encouraged me to have an MRI scan which showed a surprising amount of damage considering my minimal sympotoms! I did have a small operation, but the rehabilitation and management advice provided by Sacha has enabled me to return to tennis and complete a cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End. I cannot recommend Sacha highly enough.
David Rhodes BathWhen I came to see Sacha, I was hoping she could help with my shoulder pain. I had no idea she would fix it and improve my backhand so much other players in the squash league were asking what coaching I’d been having! I can’t recommend her enough. Thank you Sacha.
Mr Smith BathWhen I was told I would need surgery to help with my knee pain, I had lost all hope I could continue life without pain. Thanks to the treatment with Sacha I have made a brilliant recovery and have even taken up Golf!
Janet B BathHaving had a nasty fall 3 weeks ago and really injuring my knee I was still struggling to walk and waiting on an “urgent” referral to see an NHS knee specialist. I was recommened to see Sacha for a second opinion. I could not be happier that I did. Sacha diagnosed tissue damage in my knee which had been missed at A&E. She organised an MRI scan and a consultant appointment within the week. I had surgery the following week, and am now working with her on rehabilitating my knee.
J. O. BathSacha has helped me massively with various injuries. Each and every time, she has put me back together so I’m able to continue with my sport. She gives me homework that helps me to improve my recovery. Highly recommend.
Sam Pullen BathGreat treatment from Sacha at Active health!!!! I have had ‘I want to kill myself’ pain in my hip area for a while and after a trip to Active Health I feel more mobile, stronger and am pain free!!!!
The before and after difference was amazing! Highly recommend for other people with any bodily dysfunction.Jameson Mola Bath -
Amazing physio! I came in after I did my leg in after a hike and was unable to walk without pain for 2 weeks without it getting any better by itself. After one session with Emma I was able to walk again pain free on flat ground and with each session being able to get back to walking without any pain, as well as loosening up other tight muscles that will help prevent the pain returning. I cannot recommend the service enough!
Gilbert Holland-LloydI was lucky enough to be one of the first people to see Emma when she joined the practice at Active Health.
I had been suffering from pretty extreme sciatica for 3 months and was unable to walk, stand, sit or lie down without a pain, despite painkillers. I had seen a few different therapists during this time and although that helped, nothing really seemed to touch the underlying condition.
Emma worked on my body using a variety of techniques to release, re-engage and realign, and after a few weeks I was able to stop using painkillers, and was moving much more normally. My pain reduced gradually over this time, and with the exercises she designed for me I have been able to build strength and regain my body’s normal functioning. The yoga program she gave me to go away with has built on the that, and I have been pain free for just over a month now. I still have some work to do to build enough muscle strength to keep everything healthy, and I still get an occasional really mild reminder that if I don’t keep active I might have another spell, but so far it has been FANTASTIC to have my body back. I’ve been walking swimming, cycling and SLEEPING absolutely normally. I still have to be a bit aware of how long and in which position I sit, but I cannot begin to say how grateful I am to Emma.
So sincere thanks for everything!
